Homebirth Discovery Consultation This consultation is designed to help you decide whether homebirth and continuity of midwifery care with Sunny is the right choice for you and your family. We'll begin by getting to know each other, discussing your pregnancy, previous birth experiences, hopes, concerns, and what matters most to you. We'll explore the evidence surrounding the safety of planned homebirth for healthy, low-risk pregnancies, including who is suitable for homebirth, how risk is assessed throughout pregnancy, and the plans in place should transfer to hospital ever become necessary. You'll learn about the emergency equipment carried at every birth and the collaborative relationships with local maternity services. We'll discuss the many benefits of continuity of care and homebirth, including personalised one-to-one care, fewer interventions, the comfort and privacy of birthing at home, freedom to move and labour naturally, family involvement, and uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact after birth. You'll also learn about Sunny's extensive experience as a registered midwife with more than 30 years supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. Sunny provides evidence-based, holistic care while working closely with families to support informed choice, confidence, and positive birth experiences. The consultation includes information about comprehensive pregnancy care, birth support, and postnatal services, including breastfeeding support from the very first feed. You'll learn how ongoing home visits help establish breastfeeding, monitor the health of mother and baby, and provide practical and emotional support during the first six weeks after birth. There is plenty of time to ask questions, discuss your individual circumstances, understand fees and Medicare rebates, and explore whether homebirth with Sunny aligns with your values, needs, and birth goals. By the end of the consultation, you'll have the knowledge and confidence to make an informed decision about your maternity care.
