A New Chapter in Women’s Health: My Work with Hygieia House

I am incredibly proud to have been part of the opening of Hygieia House—a beautiful new space dedicated to reimagining healthcare for women.

For me, being involved with Hygieia House represents much more than having another place to provide care. It is about being part of a growing movement that recognises women deserve healthcare that listens to them, respects their choices, understands their individual circumstances and supports them through every stage of their lives.

A better future for women

For too long, women’s healthcare has often been fragmented. Pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, reproductive health and wellbeing can be treated as separate areas rather than parts of a woman’s whole experience.

Hygieia Health is working towards something different.

Hygieia House brings together practitioners and services with a shared vision of improving the health and wellbeing of women. It creates an opportunity for women to access care in an environment that feels welcoming, collaborative and centred around them.

This vision resonates deeply with me.

After more than 30 years working in midwifery, I have seen firsthand the difference that continuity, trust and genuinely listening to women can make.

Bringing continuity of care into a new space

Through Holistic Family Homebirth, I provide woman-centred and family-centred care throughout pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period.

My approach is grounded in the belief that women are not simply patients. They are active participants in their healthcare, with their own knowledge, experiences, values, families and hopes for the future.

Now, through Hygieia House, I am able to offer my services within a wider community of women’s health practitioners.

I am particularly excited to continue supporting women with pregnancy care, birth preparation, homebirth, postpartum wellbeing and breastfeeding and lactation support.

Breastfeeding is another area where women can benefit enormously from skilled, compassionate support. Preparing for breastfeeding, understanding how milk production works, navigating the early days and getting help when challenges arise can make an enormous difference to a mother’s experience.

Creating the future we want to see

I believe the future of women’s healthcare lies in connection.

Connection between practitioners.

Connection between different areas of healthcare.

Connection between women and their own bodies.

And, perhaps most importantly, connection between women and the people caring for them.

Hygieia House provides a space where this kind of connection can grow.

Being part of its opening has made me excited about what is possible when passionate practitioners come together with a shared commitment to improving women’s health.

For me, this is the next chapter of a long journey in midwifery—continuing to advocate for women, supporting families and contributing to a healthcare system where women feel heard, informed, respected and empowered.

I am honoured to now offer my services through Hygieia House and to be part of creating a better future for women and their families.

Because better healthcare begins when we truly listen to women
